Highlights from DishCourse 2018

About

DishCourse is a unique experience that stimulates dialogue around some of the most pressing issues facing the marketing and communications industry by bringing together senior leaders to dine in the home (and at the kitchen table) of one of the executives in attendance. For one evening, boundaries are unrecognized, conversation is unabashed, and the food is unapologetic.

This year’s conversation is centered around controlling the message. For decades, companies have had the luxury of sending their message out into the world, confident that their voices would steer the conversation. But the tables have turned. Brands are no longer in charge of what is said about them. Are we ready to share the reins?

Our Chef

Photo of John Cosentino

Founder, Food in Motion

It was while playing baseball for Italy that John Cosentino realized that fresh and local ingredients would be the tools of his career. After working under his mentor Gianpiero Tondina at the prestigious Copper Creek Golf Club, John went abroad, back to his family roots and traveled to north-eastern Italy, studying under world recognized chefs Giancarlo Perbellini and Valentino Marcattilii, and in some of the most well-recognized food establishments in the country.

Our mantra is simple: we’re all about bringing people together through food. By selecting the best possible ingredients and carefully crafting our menus we can serve our community and their families the high-quality and great-tasting meals they deserve.

As President and CEO of Edelman Canada, Lisa provides senior counsel to clients and is responsible for Canadian strategy development and execution. She has led the region’s strategic evolution to a best-in-class communications marketing firm – the biggest evolution in the firm’s history. In fact, Edelman Canada was recently awarded a Cannes Lions for its “In the Head of a Hacker” campaign on behalf of HP, and Strategy Magazine’s 2017 PR Agency of the Year, both demonstrating the realization of the firm’s communications marketing aspiration.

Lisa’s fresh, collaborative and authentic approach has not only resulted in award-winning programs for clients but has fostered a Canada-wide culture based on innovation, teamwork, and integrity. Edelman Canada has been recognized as one of the Great Place to Work® Best Workplaces in Canada and Best Workplaces for Women for seven consecutive years.

Lisa is a member of Edelman’s Global Management Team and chair of Edelman’s Global Women’s Executive Network (GWEN), championing programs and policies to help Edelman reach its global target of a 50/50 split in male/female leadership by 2020. She is also passionate about supporting future leaders and championing women’s causes and is a sought-after speaker and commentator at events and in the media. In recognition of her efforts, Lisa was recently named one of the Financial Times and HERoes Champions of Women in Business Top 100 Female Executives for helping to increase gender diversity in the workplace. She has also been inducted into the Women’s Executive Network (WXN) Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada Hall of Fame.

Lisa is also actively involved with several mentorship programs through the Women’s Executive Network, American Marketing Association and Women in Communications and Technology Protégé Program.
