Associate Creative Director

Our client, a well known Canadian retailer, is looking for an Associate Creative Director to join their team on a full time basis. Reporting in to the Creative Director, you will be responsible for inspiring, leading and mentoring the creative team. As a senior contributor of the creative department, your role in the creative process is to lead the collaborative conceptualization stage all the way through to final product. You will be responsible for your team's success and will directly manage three designers. You will act as coach, mentor and will ensure their success. And lastly, you will be responsible for the creative quality assurance and sign-off.

Responsibilities:

- Collaboratively build and develop strategic solutions with the Creative Director and internal teams

- Prototype design concepts for idea development

- Ensuring the studio executive and planning team (EVP Creative, Director of Creative Services and Project Managers) are up to speed on project status and vision through the preparation and presentation of appropriate project materials (e.g., milestone updates, presentations, etc.)

- Leading and motivating the creative team to realize overall goals and deliver successful projects on time

- Collaborating with other team members to brainstorm ideas and solutions

- Assisting with Studio planning team in establishing and enforcing process throughout the project cycle

- Lead the adjustment of project goals and design revisions on the fly as necessary to adapt to changing situations to meet established schedules

- Identifying potential problems in the creative pipeline and working with the Creative Director to prevent them

- Mentoring and serving as a technical and creative resource for the team, assisting int he resolution of complex problems, and helping them grow into their roles

- Staying abreast of current market and industry trends to aid in the development of cutting edge marketing and design concepts

- 6-10 years of experience in Art Direction in a marketing / advertising agency or a client services agency environment, including experience leading and managing people in a similar capacity

- Post Secondary Degree in a/an Arts or Design program

- Thorough knowledge of industry leading developments in integrated marketing programs

- Confidence and leadership qualities are a must

Ideal Candidate Possesses:

- Industry leading conceptual idea, visualization and design skills

- A sense of humour, a positive attitude and willingness to learn

- Demonstrated skills in design and brand development

- An understanding of storytelling, craftsmanship and continuity

- Strong attention to detail and professionalism

- Ability to work cooperatively with an lead a team spanning artists, designers and production staff, and to compromise when necessary in order to achieve overall best results

- Ability to balance impacts of deadlines and resources with style and quality requirements

- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems efficiently

- Strong time management skills with a proven ability to focus on priorities and juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

- Strong communication sills, both verbal and in writing
